India faces major challenges relating to population explosion, pollution-control & striving for food security. After independence our food production has substantially increased, but till now there are a large number of people who lives below poverty line, & do not get even a square meal a day. To cope up with the problems and for ensuring food security, we have to produce more nutritious & pollution-free food from our natural resources. Bishal Horticulture & Animal Projects Ltd. has come forward to explore the available natural resources, & has implemented a number of projects relating to Horticulture, Pisciculture, Animal Husbandry & Agrobase industries at Shimurali, Dist-Nadia, West Bengal.
A revolutionary project for cultivation of organic fruits, vegetables & herbs has been launched at Nadia district in West Bengal, on approximately 60 bighas of land which is located adjacent to NH34, & is only 15 kms from Shimurali Station (Eastern Railway). The project has already produced fruits like Grand-9 variety banana, organic onion, mango (Amrapali & Mallika varieties) & Malaysia-variety guava.
Patchouli, an aromatic plant has high global demand, especially in French markets. Bishal Horticulture has initiated cultivation of Patchouli at Nadia, and an oil extraction plant has started operations in full swing with a capacity of 30,300 kg per annum. Based on good cultivation of rice at Nadia, a rice mill is also coming up shortly with a capacity of 80 metric tonnes.
The project is expanding into the cultivation of vacuam-freeze dried medicinal plants like aloe vera, stevia, bringaraj, brambhi, aswagandha, boach, basak, ayapan, gurmur, pudina & ayapan which will capture domestic & international markets.
In this regard, Bishal Horticulture has joined hands with Co Farm of Nadia District, West Bengal who are already imparting training to farmers for cultivation of high quality fruits, vegetables & herbs. All this cultivation is done under controlled climatic conditions with the help of polyhouses, greenhouses etc & using the latest technology.
In West Bengal, milk production is at an alarmingly low rate and the number of cows yielding milk are decreasing day by day. To fulfill this requirement, Bishal is launching a Dairy Project & Processing Centre at Shimurali, West Bengal. A bio gas plant is already into operation. A hygienic meat processing unit well equipped with the latest technology would be launched at Bankura very soon. In addition, a Brewery Plant and a full-fledged high school are also in initiation-stages.
